Four deliberate stages from research to production

Studio practice avoids speculative pitch rounds and open-ended design churn. Work operates on finite milestones, two rigorous critique windows, and fixed two-to-eight-week delivery calendars.

Stage I: Intake & Research Week 1 • 7–10 Days Principal Diagnostic

Dissecting market position and customer reality

Every project commences with a ninety-minute recorded intake interview with Anna Kozlova. We do not distribute generic digital questionnaires. Instead, we examine your direct balance sheet pressures, primary customer objections, and competitor positioning across Colorado and regional markets.

Collateral audits cover existing sales literature, print samples, and operational touchpoints. This stage isolates the authentic reasons customers choose your enterprise over established competitors and identifies messaging gaps where revenue is lost.

Stage Deliverables Diagnostic audit brief, competitor positioning matrix, and finalized milestone calendar.
Stage II: Strategic Definition Weeks 2–3 • 14 Days Positioning Architecture

Constructing the core messaging framework

Strategy at Oak Merton is neither marketing fluff nor academic theory. We author a concise messaging hierarchy that defines your firm value in unmistakable terms. We articulate your commercial positioning, audience segments, tone of voice standards, and exact vocabulary rules.

This stage delivers the written foundation for all subsequent identity design. If a proposed value proposition cannot be defended in plain sentences on one page of paper, it is rewritten until it can.

Stage Deliverables Brand strategy document, audience segmentation profiles, and editorial voice guidelines.
Stage III: Identity Craft Weeks 4–6 • 14–21 Days Typographic Architecture

Developing tangible typographic systems and physical marks

With strategic parameters locked, we develop the visual architecture: primary mark, typographic hierarchy, proportion scales, color formulation, and tangible application proofs. We present one singular, rigorously resolved design direction rather than three shallow aesthetic options.

Presentations occur via bound physical proofs or high-resolution live walkthroughs. Every mark is tested at 16 pixels on digital screens and stamped into heavy cotton stock to verify physical fidelity before release.

Stage Deliverables Complete visual identity system, typographic specimens, and substrate recommendations.
Stage IV: Production & Archive Weeks 7–8 • 7–14 Days Mechanical Standards

Packaging print-ready mechanicals and archival brand guides

The final phase transforms design concepts into bulletproof commercial assets. We generate mechanical print files, vector master suites (SVG, EPS, PDF), digital screen assets, and our signature bound brand manual detailing exact production specifications.

Vendor coordination connects directly with commercial printers, engravers, signmakers, or web engineers to review paper drawdown swatches and press proofs, preventing costly manufacturing misunderstandings.

Stage Deliverables Master asset repository, bound brand manual PDF, press-ready mechanicals, and full copyright release.
“We present one singular, resolved direction. Three speculative options simply force the client to become the creative director.”

The two-revision policy and review protocol

Every project scope includes exactly two structured revision rounds during Stage II and Stage III. A revision round consists of a consolidated written review memorandum from your decision-maker, followed by direct studio adjustments by Anna Kozlova within five business days.

Enforcing this discipline prevents open-ended revision cycles from diluting strategic focus, extending schedules, or compromising design. Additional revision cycles outside the contractual scope are billed at our standard studio rate of $80 USD per hour upon mutual written consent.
